LED Light Flickering
LED technology has been around for years, but misconceptions still persist. Let’s clear up a few:
Myth 1: Higher wattage always means brighter light.
Truth: Lumens measure brightness, not watts. A 50W LED can easily outperform a 150W traditional lamp. Always check lm/W efficacy.
Myth 2: LEDs don’t generate heat.
Truth: LEDs produce less heat than traditional sources, but they still generate significant heat at the chip level. Thermal management (heatsinks, airflow) is essential for longevity.
Myth 3: All LEDs last 50,000+ hours.
Truth: Lifespan depends on operating temperature, driver quality, and usage patterns. Poor heat dissipation can cut life in half.
Myth 4: 5000K (cool white) is always better for outdoor lighting.
Truth: While cool white offers high visibility, 4000K provides a balance of clarity and comfort for most urban streets. Residential areas may prefer 3000K for warmth.
Myth 5: LED retrofitting is simply swapping bulbs.
Truth: Many fixtures require driver compatibility, beam angle adjustments, and mechanical modifications to achieve optimal performance. It’s a system upgrade, not just a lamp change.
